I have started to compile this Tumble page to give advice on UK high street shops and online shopping.

Bargain Clothing for Women, Not Girls

There are very few brands who specialise in clothing for older women and shapely women, most notably the brands which do specialise in this category are Danish brands such as Jackpot Clothing, Sandwich Clothing and Masai Clothing.

These 3 brands are not easy to find online, especially when looking for a shop that carries the full range of clothing…however I had some success and wanted to share. When I started looking for some of these clothes there were 3 or 4 shops that show up in the search results. The only problem is that a lot of them only carry one or two items from these clothing brands. Having heard about a lot of changes in Google search results, I started looking a bit deeper into the listings hoping to find something. After wading through about 4 pages of questionable results, I found a couple more UK based shops, one who specialised in the retail of Danish clothing brands; Number 17 Boutique

I started looking at the jackpot & sandwich clothing on the home page when I realised they also had a current SALE on. I am a big sucker for sales and with over 100 sale items I was in heaven!
To my surprise, when I started looking through the sale clothing, I came upon the Masai Clothing category which has a massive range of dresses, trousers and scarfs.

If you are on the hunt for a new wardrobe for this coming season then definitely check out the Number 17 Boutique website as they have a great selection of affordable womens clothing.

Avoiding Back Pain - A Mothers Tale

This all started not long after I gave birth to my lovely little girl, and if your a mother with a small child then you will be familiar with this problem; back pain.

Mine occured mainly when I was carrying the baby for long periods of time, my sholders would start to ache followed by my lower back. This led to me being off work for a few days at a time and even stopped me from being close with my little girl. Obviously I went in search for a solution. Looking online I found a great article about baby carriers, it turns out there are quite a few options out there which can help.

Normally I dont trust everything I hear on the internet, but one of the staff assistants at Mothercare directed me to a site about top baby carriers which gave some similar viewpoints. It seems that most carriers are geared towards newborns and small babies. One product did stand out amongst the crowd though, the Hipseat.
Turns out this is quite a unique product that allows you to carry your toddler or young child, whilst also giving them support from your mid-section. Basically its a small seat that attaches to your hip which the child then sits on, hopefully alleviating any pain caused by the weight of you supporting the child.

It should be here in the next day or so, I will make sure to let you know if it works!

Electrical Installations - Maintaining Documentation

A site diary is an extremely useful object for an electrician if he wants to manage his work in an effective and fuss-free way. And although keeping a site diary is not a complicated task, it requires a proper use nonetheless. One basic trait that you will need to have or to develop is a little self-sufficiency. To achieve this, what you can do is to start a part time electrical work or set up a small electrical business of your own and in this way, you will come up to the level where you have ample experience in compiling a site diary. Just like any other task which can be excelled through practice, site diary also requires practice. With just a little practice, you will visibly see an upwards trend in your skill of maintaining a site diary.

Complete site diaries are becoming crucial since their benefits are out in the open however; there are still no official guides available to teach you through maintaining a site diary. But you needn’t worry as you can still have templates for site diaries available online or right from your electrical institute. As with anyone that should look proper and organized, a site diary but also be neatly formatted with ample spaces and margins and clear information so that it is not difficult to comprehend for even a stranger.

A Long Awaited Computer Upgrade!

I have had my MacBook Pro for nearly 2 years now and it has been running fairly slow over the last few months. I take this everywhere for work and it would kill me if it ever died, so I decided to give it some love and upgrade it.

I am not very good with computers but I asked a few friends who work in the industry and they said the easiest upgrade to carry out is for the RAM or an SSD. Easy as pie…go online and order one of these -

The price for me was a bit of a decisive factor for me, so I opted to upgrade just the RAM at the moment.
After ordering, delivery was pretty quick and then came the installation. I actually had the same friend from earlier help with the installation, it proved a little bit simpler than I thought as its just removing the bottom panel then slotting in the RAM sticks.

Turns out its made such a noticable difference in intensive computing and even in normal day-to-day scencarios. I actually have to use 3 browsers to complete some work so I often leave these open, which would leave to regular crashes. So far its been a week and I have had no problems! Photoshop loads and runs a lot quicker than before and I dont have to close everything down if I plan on opening a Virtual Machine.

Hooray to MacBook Pro RAM, and to Amazon!

Now to return to my article writing.

Cut Costs In Your Weekly Shopping

Of course, supermarkets have ways to lure you on purchasing items which may not be needed. If you rush off to shopping centres unplanned, be prepared to spend on things you might not even need. It’s a system these days thats engineered by corporate experts and you will not be spared from it. Knowing some simple things before you  visit the local shops will definitely create a sudden effect on your tight budget.

There are lots of resources from the web that explain things thoroughly but knowing these simple facts can keep your nose off from reading novels or long stories about smart shopping.

Plan Ahead

Well, this thing can be applied in almost everything and have great results. Having an effective plan in shopping can save time and money. Create a strategy that’ll let you buy things without visiting the same place again. Have some research about the things you usually buy and compare prices.

Stick with the Shopping List

Make a list of the stuff needed in your house. Once gone, put it immediately on your shopping list. That way, you can avoid oversupplied things and running out of specific products. You can also manage your finances properly as you prioritize on essential things first. This is a great way to prioritise any home maintenance or electrical installations before buying items such as gift hampers or other luxuries.

Visiting Manchester Soon?

With such an increase of tourism within the UK, many people are holidaying in destinations such as London, Dorset and even Manchester.

With great sites to see such as The Museum of Science and Industry, the Urbis and even Old Trafford, you can see why Manchester has become such a popular destination.
Along with this Manchester is often looked at as being a central location for quality nightlife and good restaurants, a great romantic destination.

We would always recommend travelling with a partner or in a group if it is your first visit to the city.

Have fun!

Musing On Fathers Day Presents

It seems Fathers Day stands for little more than the simple exchange of presents nowadays. Falling on the third Sunday of June, the celebration of Fathers Day differs quite differently between countries and different regions. Similar to Mothers Day, Fathers Day celebrates the paternal bond and influence of fathers on society. The holiday has many similar bearings to Mothers Day, and is often seen as a complimentary holiday. Due to this reason, many countries and nationalities do not celebrate this holiday. However many corporations use this holiday as a marketing tool and you can grab some great bargains over the period. We are reviewing some of the top suggestions we have come across over the last month or so, and a few regurgitated suggestions that we have had thrust upon us.

£0 - £10

Life: Keith Richards
Okay this one may break the £10 mark, but after being reduced from over £20 then its definitely worth the extra 70p or so. A book about the life and stories of Keith Richards, one of the most notorious ‘guitar gods’ of the 20th Century. If your dad is 40 or older then he is sure to appreciate the work of the Rolling Stones, and this book is really the icing on the cake. You now get to find out all the juicy details of the rolling stones tours including information on the relationship between Keith Richards and frontman Mick Jagger.

£10 - £25

Easiglide Steel Trolley

Lightweight Golf Bag

Kangaroo Club Cover

Hitting the golf theme for this one, particularly because my father is a bit of a golf enthusiast, but also because golf is such a widespread sport its likely that many of your dads are a keen golfer too. If so then you would have no doubt bought him golf balls in the past, they do not make the best present, which is why we have come up with a few selections for our £10-£25 budget. If your dad already has one, then consider one of the others!

£25+

Kindle eBook
Im not suggesting budget is no option on this one, however if you are willing to break the bank for your paternal loved one then this is a definite consideration. The Kindle is a must have for any tech-loving dad as it allows them to keep all their library with them at all times, as well as being able to read up to the minute news from across the web. If you are puzzled over what to get your dad, then keep this in mind as even if he hasn’t mentioned it…he likely doesn’t realise he wants it yet!

There are a few other places we would recommend looking at as well, these sites usually list new tech, gadgets, clothing and other shopping items for men and women. You are sure to find something interesting! -

Film - A Brief History of Moving Pictures

The popular film and movie blog FilmFes has recently updated their site with a great informational piece giving a brief historical record of movie and film developments over the years.

With some really insightful information, it is definitely worth a read! Check it out over at http://www.filmfes.com/film-and-tv.html

They are also opening their publishing doors for new submissions, articles and moderators to look after the blog as their main contributor is quite ill and unable to keep up with the demand.

Changing Attitudes to Food Shopping - Do Something Good In London

…More specifically those near Russell Square!

You may have heard about them, but we want to shed some more light on the good people over at The Peoples Supermarket.
The organisation originally started at grass roots by professional cook Arthur Potts Dawson. Created out of a vision for ethical and commercially sustainable food that works on healthy relationships with both the consumer and the suppliers.

Sourcing products locally has become a big part of The Peoples Supermarket ethos, and through relationships formed with many suppliers and farms, they are able to achieve good quality food at affordable prices.
The quality of produce is second to none in comparison to many of the larger supermarkets, and for members will often be cheaper. This supermarket not only supplies good quality affordable produce but it also allows many people to become part of something bigger. By becoming a member of The Peoples Supermarket you get a chance to have a say in the direction of the market, what food is stocked and what changes you want made!

I am definitely looking forward to The Peoples Supermarket spreading locations and hopefully we shall see one in Bristol in the near future.

Bristol is often seen as a community driven town and this is evident in places such as Stokes Croft. Only recently a Tesco Express was rioted against after opening on the street which is renowned for supporting small businesses and local shops. The riots have sparked massive controversy in the local area and has even seen support from Bristol born artist Banksy, who has been selling art to raise money for those arrested in the riots.
